Our Commitment
Individual Attention From a Small Maine Alpaca Farm
As a smaller alpaca farm, we are committed to offering individual attention to our alpacas and our customers here and outside of Maine. We are committed to raising our alpacas in a low-stress, healthy environment. When we feed our herd, for example, we monitor how much each alpaca consumes on a daily basis.
We handle and halter train each animal from the time they are crias until the time they go to their new home. We encourage new owners to visit our alpaca farm in Maine for hands on experience (Hands-On Day) and we offer site visits to new alpaca farms to offer suggestions on farm or barn layout. We are committed to making ourselves available as mentors and encourage our customers to always feel free to call with questions.
Our Breeding Program as a Small Maine Alpaca Farm
We are committed to producing high quality alpacas with excellent conformation and fiber. We have carefully selected diverse bloodlines from some of the nation’s finest herdsires producing crias that are usually a “cut above” the dam. No alpaca is perfect, and we are committed to being straight forward about the areas where any of our animals could use an upgrade.
Model Maine Alpaca Farm
We purchased our 1840 farmhouse, 3-story red barn, with 22 acres with the goal of starting an alpaca farm here in Maine. Our outbuildings, paddocks, and fencing were carefully planned. Our hilltop location on the edge of historic Waldoboro Village provides an ideal Maine setting for raising alpacas. We are committed to maintaining a model Maine alpaca farm that provides a prospective breeder a glimpse of where they might hope to be in a few years.
