Alpacas on News

Since 1999 we have been raising alpacas and have seen our investment in our herd grow from four animals to 29. For us, it has been an exciting project that we have undertaken together. It has been a good experience for us as a couple to have adopted this richly rewarding lifestyle. Our alpacas provided us with so many things -- a way to build equity and income --a daily rhythm on the farm that centers us --and of course soft and luxurious fiber that Bonnie both spins and weaves. We share the passion for this industry that has made it so very successful. We teach a course several times each year at the local adult education..."How to Start an Alpaca Farm." Bonnie is originally from Bangor, Maine and has had a career as a medical buyer--she is very knowledgeable about fiber and fiber arts. Terry has worked in sales and marketing in Maine's aquaculture industry--he was the marketing chairperson for the New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association and contributes articles about alpaca farming to periodicals.
