Seminar "The Joy of Alpaca Farming"

Saturday January 14 @ 10am-12noon, The Great Room-- Village Farm Alpacas 99 Old Route One- Waldoboro

Find out why people are so passionate about raising alpacas and learn the basics about buying, feeding, pasturing, taking care of the animals. A dynamic two hour crash course on starting an alpaca farm. Taught by Bonnie and Terry Callery, the owners of Village Farm Alpacas of Waldoboro, Maine. Terry will cover buying alpacas what to look for on conformation and fleece. Bonnie- a health care professional- will cover feeding and caring for them…the basic animal husbandry of the alpaca. Bonnie also weaves and spins… and she will also talk about shearing and what to do commercially with your fine fleeces. Terry has been published in alpaca industry publications and has consulted with many new farms on their infrastructure and business plans- he will cover barns, fencing and pastures as well as a basic five year plan. Second hour will be held in the barn with the alpacas!!!
